My time in Greenland was defined by varying states of water: shifting pack ice, driving rain, fog and currents. And of course, there were the icebergs - ancient ice formed over millennia and pushed off the edge of glaciers into the frigid North Atlantic. The icebergs provided an ever changing sculptural carnival and some drama if they capsized or split. The hues of the island itself are muted, but the colors of ice could be intense, especially when the low "midnight sun" produced flaming highlights and dense elongated shadows.
